The iPhone 4S is Here – Apple’s First “4G” Phone
The new Apple iPhone 4S is here for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. While Sprint and Verizon are offering 3G versions of the phone, the AT&T branded phone has access to the AT&T 4G network which doubles the speed available compared to previous versions of the phone.
While that 4G speed is based on a HSPA+ network, so not as fast as Verizon’s 4G LTE network, it does allow the iPhone 4S to cruise along at 14.4Mbps making it as fast as the rest of AT&T’s 4G phones like the Motorola Atrix, LG Thrill 4G and the HTC Inspire.
While the design of the iPhone 4S is almost identical to the previous model there are some major improvements to the hardware and software. According to Apple, the new iPhone 4S boasts better battery life and better call quality. The camera has been upgraded to an 8 megapixel shooter and it’ll record video at 1080p.
Another big new feature is voice integration using Siri. You can now set alarms, get weather reports, etc. just but speaking a question into the phone.
