Launched at the beginning of last month, the Motorola DROID Bionic has been one of best-selling Verizon phones since it hit the stores. That’s mainly because it’s the first dual-core processor phone with 4G network capability – which gives it a massive speed and performance advantage over rival devices.

The rest of the device hardware is solid too – there’s an excellent 4.3-inch high-res qHD multi-touch display and 8 megapixel camera, for example.

Now that the DROID Bionic has been available for several weeks, we wondered what the major phone review sites have to say about the Bionic.

Over at PhoneDog, the verdict is a near 100% thumbs-up:

“The DROID BIONIC is hands-down the best Android phone – scratch that, best smartphone – on Verizon. It combines Verizon’s blazing fast 4G LTE network with a dual-core processor for performance that should appease anyone craving power.”

Downsides for PhoneDog are the the “bulky” size (5.02×2.63×0.43 inches) and the battery life which they feel is not great although better than other 4G phones.

The overall the PhoneDog verdict?
“The Motorola DROID Bionic is the most powerful, feature-rich phone that Verizon offers at present”

Phandroid.com focus on the combination of the 4G LTE radio, dual-core processor and 1GB RAM, pointing out the Bionic can both download data and multimedia fast and then process it much faster than the average phone:

“…the Bionic powerfully pumps where other devices might putter along.”

The preloaded apps that Verizon include on the phone also get the thumbs up. You’ll find Amazon Kindle, Blockbuster, City ID, GoToMeeting, Let’s Golf 2, MOTOPRINT, NFL Mobile, Quickoffice, Slacker, Videosurf, and ZumoCast all waiting for you when you fire up the Bionic for the first time. Phandroid particular like Zumocast which allows you to access any file on your computer via your phone no matter where you are in the world.

The reviewer is less impressed with the camera, considering that the Samsung DROID Charge produces better images.

Despite that, the site gives the device a resounding recommendation:

“…an excellent option, highlighted by the Bionic trio of 4G LTE, 1GHz dual-core processor, and 1GB RAM. A lot can happen in the 2-years until your contract is up, and these specs essentially “future proof” the Bionic..”

Professional reviewers see many more phones than the average user which help them give an informed review – but phone owners use the device every day and it’s interesting to see how many Bionic owners on Amazon, for example, are impressed with the phone. Typical comments are:

“Best phone Verizon has ever offered.”
“Solid entry to Verizon Wireless’ LTE family.”
“Worth the wait!”
