AT&T Veer 4G – Compact 4G Phone With Small Price

Not everyone who wants a 4G phone wants one with a 4.3 (or bigger) screen. A surprising number of people have not bought a new 4G phone because they want a phone that can fit more easily into pockets, purses and bags. HP / AT&T have realized this and have come up with the Veer 4G.

No big, unwieldy screen here, this phone is all about being pocket-sized while still packing a punch.

Compared to the chunkier 4G phones that have been the only choice up to now, the Veer is compact – weighing just 3.63 ounces and measuring 3.31 x 2.15 x 0.6 inches. That doesn’t mean it’s not got a lot going for it, like a 5 megapixel camera / camcorder, 8 GB of memory, full HTML web browser with support for Flash, GPS location services, WiFi with mobile hotspot service and Bluetooth stereo music streaming.

Another plus for many users is the Blackberry-like, physical slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The slightly raised, gummed keys make it surprisingly easy to type error free even with fairly large hands.

The Veer 4G runs on the HP webOS operating system and has a 2.6 inch touchscreen that’s around half the size of the larger AT&T phones like the Atrix.

Given the size of the phone you might not expect the camera or video output to be very good. While it’s not going to win any photography prizes any time soon, pictures taken with the Veer 4G are great for casual snaps. Video capture is ok, but again, if you’re looking for an AT&T 4G phone that with a great camera take a look at the Inspire or Infuse.

To sum up, although the Veer 4G isn’t a high-end but it’s not meant to be. It is a great option if you’re looking for an inexpensive 4G phone that’s compact enough to fit into any pocket or bag but still delivers good 4G speed.
