HTC Inspire 4G Review
Pros: Fast, excellent camera and call quality
Cons: Battery life not so good for heavy users who will want to grab an extended battery
Bottom Line: Fast, great screen, top-of-the-range 8 megapixel camera
The HTC Inspire 4G is an Android 4G Android phone for AT&T that delights with a big, bright Super LCD 4.3 inch touchscreen and 8 megapixel camera.
The Inspire is fast too. The 1Ghz Snapdragon processor makes opening and running applications quick and smooth. Video, web browsing, audio, apps – everything just flies along.
The camera on the Inspire 4G is up there with the best on the market today. At 8 megapixels it’s one of the largest available on a 4G phone and comes with 720 HD video, face detection, geo-tagging, LED Flash and auto-focus. Along with the screen, the camera is the major plus point of this phone.
Given the larger screen, you’d expect the Inspire to be a little on the chunky side. Depending on your personal preference and hand size you’ll either find this a positive or a negative. Most users find the slightly larger size makes gripping the phone easier and should be mentioned that it’s not a heavy phone – it’s among the lighter 4G phones on the market.
Social networking is a prominent feature and sharing your images and videos with friends and colleagues is made easy through the social networking apps that come ready installed. In particular, the HTC Sense and Friend Stream apps helpfully group emails, tweets, text messages and phone calls by contact for easy reading and follow up.
You can even share & stream content like live sports and video feeds from the phone to your TV using the Inspire’s built-in DLNA technology. It can also be used as a mobile hotspot, allowing the 4G connection to be shared with up to five other devices.
The Inspire 4G ships with a 1230 mAh battery which is fine unless you’re a heavy user, in which case you’ll want to grab an Seidio Extended Life Battery. Your battery time will improve considerably with very little extra cost and without adding any extra size to the phone.
To sum up, the HTC Inspire 4G is a great performer, with good quality design and build and excellent call quality.
