LG Viper – The First Sprint 4G LTE Phone
The new LG Viper 4G LTE is now officially available from the Sprint store.
The Viper price is $99.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate and two-year contract. New customers will also benefit from the current waiving of the $36 activation fee for a new line.
The LG Viper is the first phone for Sprint’s new 4G LTE network and is a sleek, ultra-thin device with 4-inch display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor and Android 2.3 out of the box.
While it’s not quite as high-end as other upcoming Sprint phones like the Galaxy Nexus or EVO 4G LTE it’s a powerful phone with a great price tag to suit.
As it starts to wind down its WiMAX service in preparation for a faster, LTE service similar to those offered by competing carriers Verizon and AT&T, Sprint has confirmed that no further WiMAX devices will be launched and that all future Sprint devices will be LTE only.
The carrier is also sticking with its unlimited data plans, even for customers on the LTE network (details here).
UPDATE: The Viper is now part of Amazon’s Penny Sale.
