New AT&T 4G Phones & LTE Coverage Areas

AT&T customers are now enjoying an extended 4G LTE high-speed network with two new 4G phones to access it on, following the launch of several new phones and coverage areas over the weekend.

First up, the much talked about Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, which is essentially the Samsung Galaxy S II but now with 4G LTE technology inside.

Best features: The stunning 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display (as seen on the Galaxy S II), the super fast 1.5GHz dual-core processor plus an excellent 8-megapixel camera on the rear and 2-megapixel on front of the phone for video calling. There’s also Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) right out of the box and 16GB internal storage and of course it’s one of the first AT&T phone with access to the carriers new high-speed 4G LTE network.

The only other 4G LTE phone from AT&T at this point is the HTC Vivid.

Best features: 4.5-inch touchscreen display, fast 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread), award-winning HTC Sense UI and dual 8 and 1.3-megapixel cameras on the rear and front.

Other phones just launched by AT&T include the Samsung Focus Flash.

Best features: Compact 3.7-inch Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel camera with HD video capture, front-facing camera, 1.4 GHz processor and Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) OS and two long-awaited BlackBerry 4G phones, the Bold 9900 and the Torch 9810.

The carrier is in the process of expanding its new 4G LTE network around the country with four new coverage areas which have just gone live – Boston, Washington D.C., Balitmore and Athens Georgia. New York City 4G is due “very soon”.

Existing coverage areas are Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio with plans to cover a total of 15 markets before the end of the year.
