Samsung Galaxy S 4G
The Samsung Galaxy S 4G is the first T-Mobile 4G phone capable of accessing the T-Mobile top network speed of 21Mbps.
Aside from faster web browsing, Samsung have optimized the Galaxy S 4G for games and watching videos on the move. The 1GHz Hummingbird processor keeps the Galaxy running fast and responsive when running videos, games or apps and the bright 4 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen means the viewing is bright and sharp.
The Samsung Galaxy S 4G has two cameras: a 5 megapixel rear facing camera with digital zoom, autofocus and HD video and a front-facing camera mainly intended for use in video chats, whether over a 4G connection or via Wi-Fi. It has to be said, the cameras are a little less than you might expect on a phone in the mid-price range. A rear camera of 5 megapixels is fine – though 8 megapixels is becoming more usual – but a front-facing camera of only 0.3 megapixels is a little stingy when compared to other phones with video chat cameras.
Samsung haven’t held back on the memory though – there’s 1 GB of internal memory on the Galaxy S 4G and in the box you’ll get a 16 GB microSD card for additional memory, though the Galaxy will work with microSD cards of up to 32 GB.
Being an Android phone there’s a good range of mobile apps already installed as well as access to thousands more free and paid apps via Android Market. Among the preloaded goodies are a full length version of Inception, T-Mobile TV for on-demand live news, sports and full length TV episodes, T-Mobile Video Chat (powered by Qik) a free video chat service which includes video mail, Samsung Media Hub, Kindle for Android, Slacker Radio and doubleTwist – a handy app allowing wireless syncing between the Galaxy S 4G and your iTunes playlists and content.
Other features include fast Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking, Bluetooth 3.0 for hands-free calling and stereo music streaming, GPS for location-based services and navigation via Google Maps and support for personal and corporate email.
In summary, the Samsung Galaxy S 4G is a solid, full-featured phone with the accent on fast mobile web browsing (including Flash) and an outstanding mobile video experience provided through a beautiful 4 inch Super AMOLED screen that’s sharp and vibrant while at the same time giving better battery life than screens using older technology.
