In a surprising move, there’s official confirmation today that Verizon will be the only major US carrier that will not be offering a version of the world’s current best selling phone the Samsung Galaxy S II.
The US launch date of the new Galaxy is due soon, with Samsung making a press announcement next week, but it’s already known that Sprint will launch the phone under the Epic Touch 4G name, while AT&T will call theirs the Samsung Attain and T-Mobile the Hercules.
Although it’s been thought for months that Verizon would offer the Galaxy S II as the Samsung Function, we now know that’s not the case and there will be no Galaxy S II on Verizon. When questioned about the phone, a Verizon spokesperson said:
“We have an extensive portfolio that offers customers a great variety of devices, including the Samsung Droid Charge.”
