Sprint Saves Unlimited Data Plan

Contrary to earlier reports, it looks like Sprint will not be dropping its Unlimited Data plan.

For some time now, Sprint has been the last major carrier to continue offering unlimited data plans for 4G phones and devices and recent speculation had suggested the carrier would drop the plan in October.

Instead, Sprint has dropped its Premier program, which gave customers special discounts and early phone upgrades. It seems the program just wasn’t popular enough to make it something that Sprint wanted to continue with as a marketing tool to attract new customers or keep existing ones.

Instead, Sprint will focus its marketing efforts on its range of 4G smartphones and on the fact that it’s the only major carrier still offering a genuine unlimited data plan for 4G / 3G data. Even the carriers pre-paid arm, Virgin Mobile, has announced a move to tiered data plans.

If you’re a past Premier Program member and want to know how long you’ve got to use up your accumulated benefits you might want to check out the Sprint site as they’re a little complicated.
