Verizon DROID 4G Phones Get $0.01 Price Tag

Just a few days after the massive reduction in the HTC Thunderbolt price on Amazon it’s the turn of Verizon’s other Android 4G phone the Samusung DROID Charge.

Like the Thunderbolt, the DROID Charge is now available for $0.01 for new customers signing a two-year contract. But before getting too excited, remember that this isn’t the official carrier price. The $0.01 deal only applies to phones bought via Amazon. The official Verizon price in stores and online is still $250.

The new pricing means that every device in the Verizon 4G phone lineup is now available for a penny through Amazon, the other two phones being the LG Revolution and the previously mentioned Thunderbolt.

Although existing Verizon customers who are upgrading their contract don’t qualify for the $0.01 deal, buying through Amazon will still get a reduction on the price of both the DROID Charge and the Thunderbolt to $99.99.

Although the dedicated wireless division of Amazon is relatively new it’s shaped up to be one of the best places to find a good cell phone deal online, consistently out-pricing its competitors and even the carriers themselves. Phones come with a standard free two-day shipping and often have other bundled extras and discounts like the current offer of $15 in credits to spend on apps, MP3s and Kindle content with every Android phone bought this month.

The Samsung DROID Charge will need little introduction at this point, given it’s been Verizon’s runaway hit of the year so far. Most of the awards and praise lavished on it have been down to the gorgeous 4.3 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, a display so vivid it has little competition on the market today.

That’s not to say that running a fast 1.2 GHz processor, with Android 2.2 on the blisteringly Verizon 4G network hasn’t played a part in making the DROID Charge such a hit too.
